2026 Annual Seminar & Faceting Workshop
Every August, the Midwest Faceter’s Guild hosts an annual faceting seminar where beginning faceters come to learn the art of faceting, and intermediate faceters come to increase their skills.
The weekend offers hands-on instruction by experienced faceters while providing lots of time together for education, practice, and community. Experts in the field are often present to share tips and tricks. Last year, 2024, we’ve expanded the Annual Seminar weekend to include an Intermediate level course.
We are also planning a Saturday evening Dinner with Special Presentation with a guest speaker. Tickets will be made available when we finalize our plans. Due to system limitations you must purchase your dinner ticket in a different transaction from your seminar reservation. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Don’t wait! These classes will fill quickly.

2025 Saturday Night PRESENTATION W/ CATERED Dinner
Our Guest Speaker on Saturday Aug 16th, 2025, this year is Doug Christesnsen of Hedron Rockworks. Here’s part of Doug’s backstory and how he got into cutting gemstones Dice, you can read the full story at this link: https://hedronrockworks.com/backstory. Hedron Rockworks began with a desire to craft fun items for my friends. I started painting minis to provide an immersive experience for them. I even started modifying minis with green stuff putty to make customized characters. Here is a half orc bard starting his quest to invent rap. (Rapping – Rapidly Articulated Perfect Persuasion In Native Grunting)
Two years into playing my first D&D character, a wizard, I started to look for a nice dice set that would represent his personality and specialization with the school of illusion. I also wanted something with a very high quality feel. However, even with all the different styles of dice that are out there, I could not find exactly what I was looking for.
My dad, a hobbyist jeweler, offered to cast a die in silver. I jumped on the offer and after a few hours of working the mold we cast a solid silver die. This thing felt amazing – the weight and shine were great, but the fact that it was hand-made was even cooler…
Doug’s full website can be found at https:https://hedronrockworks.com/
Doug did a seminar for Midwest Faceters Guild in 2024. The stones the attendees cut looked fabulous. If you enjoy playing Dungeons and Dragons, these dice would be the ultimate edition to your your DND world.
